PORTRAITS Photobook Contest

CONTEST DETAILS:

- The theme is black & white portraits of strangers, one of the most difficult subjects to photograph intimately. The book features images of people Mustafah encountered across his travels. We want you to go out and capture faces. We want to see personality, creativity, and a touch of your own style.

- Files should be in JPEG with 1200 pixels on the longest side.

- Captions MUST be included in your e-mail.

- Submit a maximum of 3 entries to hello@wearemjr.com before December 15, 2008. Members of MJR will vote and the winner will be announced during the Weekly Collection. The winner gets sent a signed copy of Portraits, a 6×6 hardcover book of 19 black & white photographs featuring hand-written notes on each portrait by the photographer. This is the only copy of the book with these notes.

Good luck.

“As You Were” Book Launch

To celebrate the first anniversary of MJR we have collectively published “As You Were,” a 55 page hardcover book available through our bookstore at Blurb.com.

We put a lot of thought into the sequencing of this book, and each spread is intended to stimulate both sides of your brain. The idea behind MJR has always been a way for us to push each other, and in the process we  created a lot of images that spoke to one another. This book is that forum.

“portfolio” book

I’m excited to announce the launch of my first Blurb book. Hardcover 13×11 imagegwrap and featuring 49 black & white photographs, this book represents my work across the year 2008. Featured are essays on cowboys in Patagonia, crime in Central America, and the renown Penn Relays track & field competition here in the United States. It’d look tight on your coffee table.

The folks at Blurb liked it so much they’re using it for marketing. So we might do some more contests here on the MJR blog to give away one or two…
